  • Review of Projects and Issues
Selectman Santolucito reported that the power upgrade was completed in Dispatch on Tuesday.  He came in both Monday and Tuesday to make sure everything that was needed was where it belonged and the project completed.  Selectman Santolucito went on to mention the Budget Advisory Committee Meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 29 where he said the discussion will center on Frye Island.

Selectman Harmon reported that we welcomed our new Deputy Clerk this week who has been on the job for three days and is doing an excellent job, helping a lot of customers and jumping right in and learning things as she goes.

Selectman Harmon reported that she met with one of the Girl Scout Troops this week.  They are working on their Bronze Award and wanted to bounce around some ideas about what they could do here in the community.  She gave some examples of their ideas and said the girls are going to prioritize the top three ideas and select the one that will have the most impact and reach the most people in the community and how they can implement that.  Selectman Harmon told them she would be glad to come back and talk with them.

Selectman Harmon said she spoke with a resident who lives on Libby Drive that wanted a Stop Sign at the intersection of Libby Drive and Spruce Swamp Road.  Selectman Harmon told the lady that she would take it up with the rest of the Board.  The resident also thanked the Town for paving Libby Drive.

Selectman Harmon mentioned the EMA building and said the Board had talked earlier this year about closing that building down for the winter.  Chet Ouellette, our Maintenance man, reminded the Board about that and said he would like to get that set up.  Selectman Harmon said they need to coordinate with the group that is currently using the building to let them know the Board will be shutting it down for the winter.

Selectman Burns reported that he was in the office Tuesday.  He got caught up on mail and talked with Selectman Harmon.  He said the contractor who is painting the West Buxton Public Library is proceeding as weather allows and is doing a nice, thorough job. Selectman Burns said he thinks everyone will be happy with it once it is done, and he expects it to be finished sometime next week, weather permitting.

Selectman Poitras reported that he came in Monday, met the new Deputy Clerk in the front office, and made some calls regarding Buxton Community Day and the prospect of doing that again next year.  He said he spoke to one of the members of the group who is spearheading interest in that event to see if they can get enough people to come together in the leadership of it.  Selectman Poitras said they have been trying to meet up with some people who have directed these types of events.  They are still working on the project to see if this is the right fit for them.

Selectman Emery reported that he has been very busy with his work and has not been able to get into the office much.  However, he stays in close communication with the other selectmen and the office to stay on top of things and provide assistance when needed.
